"I am currently working on a body of work that showcases the beauty of our surroundings and touches upon the psychological connection between place, memory, and identity. The work is a series of abstracted illustrations of different Boston neighborhoods; each one based on the real geography but altered slightly to create a unique perspective of the location. The finished product is a combination of hand-drawn and digitally altered images with many layers of colors and textures. The focus of this work is to change the purpose of a map from utilitarian to conceptual. I hope to make the viewer think about their own place in relation to what is around them and appreciate the beauty in both the built and natural environments."
